Connecticut Children’s Theatre (CCT) was
founded in 1991 by Grammy-nominated producer and director
(Best Spoken Word for Children) Jerry Goehring and acclaimed
writer/performer Patty Carver as a way to introduce inner-city
children to professional live theatre performances. Initial
programming was created in association with major performing
arts centers in the tri-State area. This interactive collaboration
was specifically focused for educators and school systems
in the at-risk communities of central New Jersey, Connecticut
and the New York City boroughs.
Since 1991, CCT, and its New York-based artists,
have created 33 new musicals for hundreds of thousands of
children, each with educator-approved study guides for complete
curriculum integration. CCT currently tours several times
each year, performs in hundreds of schools with its "In-School"
programming, operates important community outreach activities
and offers classes for children taught by industry professionals.
