Gerald A. Goehring (Producing Artistic Director)
is a Grammy® nominated producer who has been producing
new theatre projects across the country and in Europe for
over fifteen years. Recently Mr. Goehring was executive producer
for the Grammy® nominated CD of Ogden Nash’s The
Christmas That Almost Wasn’t, starring John Lithgow
for "Best Spoken Word for Children" as a fundraiser
for the National Theatre of the Deaf.
From 1999 through 2002 Mr. Goehring served as
the Executive Director/CEO of the Tony Award® –
winning National Theatre of the Deaf (NTD). NTD was founded
in 1967 and is the oldest, continually touring international
theatre company in the United States. In 1990, Mr. Goehring
co-founded Connecticut Children’s Theatre in association
with tri-state university performing arts centers, for educators
and school systems in the at-risk environments of Connecticut,
New Jersey and New York. Since its inception, Mr. Goehring
has created and directed thirty-three new musicals.
Mr. Goehring began his theatrical career in
the early 1980's and has been director, general manager and/or
producer for 18 New York productions, 23 regional productions
and 15 national tours. In 1996, Mr. Goehring renovated and
opened the first mid-sized venue in Boston’s Theatre
district in fifty years, the 452-seat Stuart Street Playhouse.
He also produced and directed Definitely Doris, The Music
of Doris Day for the premiere of Garry Marshall’s new
Falcon Theatre in Los Angeles. Definitely Doris, a biographical
musical featuring the songs and career of Doris Day, was also
produced in London and Boston where Mr. Goehring was involved
as both producer and director.
Mr. Goehring has produced independent theatre
productions, including West Side Story, Show Boat and Evita;
tours such as Secret Love and Cinderella; and cabarets with
artists such as Anita Gravine and Phillip Officer.
