As the father of two young children, I
am continually on a quest to find ways to make the arts a
part of my children’s daily lives. Parents across America
face the same challenge, not only in the home, but also in
the schools where arts funding is becoming more and more fragile.
Many teachers and parents, like myself, have the ambition
to establish and maintain artistic connections for their children.
We hope that this effort will lead to new ways that our children
will view the world, situations and the people around them.
When they face a challenge in life they’ll know that
choices and creative options exist. That we all have an inner
voice that needs to be expressed and should be used in the
different areas of our life: home, school, work and play.
At Connecticut Children's Theatre we aspire to give young
people a chance to see the world in a different way, to be
a conduit for creative imagination and to allow a child to
question the world around him. From the simplest of fairy
tales to the most complex children’s literature, each
story resonates differently with every child. Some children
will be inspired to write, sing or act, others to read books
or listen to music, and still others may take the lessons
of a story and apply it to a situation at home or in school.
We pride ourselves on using the power of theatre to question
accepted notions, touch hearts and open discussions. There
is no better gift that Connecticut Children's Theatre can
give to the children of our community. That, and a really
good show.
