The Velveteen Rabbit
Award-winning stars Bea Arthur and Marla Gibbs join Grammy nominated producer in national tour for children. ON TOUR 2004/2005

"The Velveteen Rabbit," a new musical version of Margery Williams’ beloved story of unconditional love and friendship, will be presented by Connecticut Children’s Theatre (CCT) for a national tour in the 2004/2005 season. The musical, with book, music and lyrics by Patty Carver and additional music by Leo P. Carusone, features original music and sing-a-longs for families and specifically children pre-k through third grades. The production is directed by CCT producing artistic director Jerry Goehring, who has produced and directed new projects nationally and in Europe for the past fifteen years. Choreography is by Mathew Trombetta and musical direction by John Bowen

Morton Schindel

The show features the talented voice of stage, film and TV stars Bea Arthur and Marla Gibbs. Ms. Arthur is best known for her Emmy-Award performances on "Maude" and "The Golden Girls," and she is also known on Broadway appearing in shows from "Mame" and "Fiddler on the Roof" to "Bea on Broadway." Ms. Gibbs is widely acclaimed for her character Florence on "The Jeffersons" and starring role in "227." She is an eight-time NAACP Image Award winner and four time Emmy Nominee.

The onstage cast, which features professional actors from New York City, includes Correy West, Mike Hedges, Denise Johnson, Stephanie Parillo and William Suretté. The show can be booked for individual performances, weeklong residencies (with local children being worked into the show), tie-in educational workshops and audience talkbacks.
